  • Q: Can I give my invitation to a friend/co-worker?
    A1: We’re sorry, invitations are non-transferrable
    A2: You may refer someone to be invited: http://www.stirr.net/refer.  Filling in a link to a LinkedIn profile and title improve the chances of that person being invited.
  • Q: Who gets invited?
    A: Founding teams of early stage technology startups are the core focus.  Angels, VCs, Press, and a handful of startup friendly service providers are mixed in.
  • Q: I’m bizdev/sales for startup X, how come I haven’t received an invite?
    A: Non core members of startups need to be accompanied by founders and will have to pay starting in April.
  • Q: I received an invitation, but when I go to the site is says ‘no invitation record found’
    A: You have to login using the same email address that the invitation was sent to (check the headers).
  • Q: How long has STIRR been around?
    We launched in April of 2006
  • Q: Do you sell/share any of the applicant informaion?
    A: No, we never reveal any of the information you share with us without your expressed consent.
  • Q: What if I received an unwanted solicitation from someone who claims they met me or heard of me through STIRR?
    A: Please foward the entire text of the message to ‘abuse@stirr.net’ and we’ll make sure they stop.
  • Q: Has anyone been banned from STIRR?
    A: We’ve only had to ban one vendor for unsolicited emailing and one shady ‘money finder’ from STIRR, so far everyone else has helped build a terrific and supportive community.
  • Q: I signed up for an account but I haven’t been invited to an event?
    A: For the events STIRR’s primary focus is on founding teams of early-stage internet, enterprise and mobile startups. We also bring together some of the ecosystem to support the entrepreneurs (investors (angel and vc), recruiting, bizdev from larger firms, pr, etc).
  • Q: I’m an associate at a VC firm, how can I attend?
    A: We apologize but only Partners are invited. An associate may attend as a guest of a partner, but only if the partner is present.
  • Q: How do I get invited?
    A: The first step is to create a STIRR account (http://www.stirr.net/signup).  We only invite those who take action.
  • Q: What sort of companies can apply for stage time?
    A: Ready to launch or launched Consumer Internet, Mobile or Enterprise startups. We’re also starting to branch into biotech and cleantech.
  • Q: I have this great open source idea that I want to pitch, when can I present?
    A: The Stage is reserved for companies that are either about to launch or are already launched. Pitching ideas and/or prototypes will be possible in our forthcoming online network.
  • Q: I’m a VC, how can I attend a Founder’s Table dinner?
    A: please contact us for sponsorship information.  Sponsors get to attend the pre-dinner session to network, but the dinner session is entrepreneurs only.
  • Q: How do the companies get chosen for stage time?
    A: The STIRR team evaluates each company based on relevant customer pain, good distribution strategy, and how likely stage time is going to be of help to the company.  There is currently a 2-3 month backlog for applications so please apply in advance of your company launch if you’d like to launch on the STIRR stage.
